Come and taste our awarding winning ale!
The Verulam Brewery, which forms part of the Farmer's Boy, has won Beer of the Festival at the 2011 Luton Beer and Cider Festival which is organised by South Bedfordshire CAMRA. There were 109 beers on offer and the Beer of the Festival award was decided by visitors to the festival.
The winning ale was our 4.6% Citra Hit with its distinctive fruity taste. Well done to our inhouse brewer, Kevin!

On Tuesday 26TH April 2011, Kevin Yelland, Headbrewer at the Verulam Brewery, St Albans, will begin the task of bottling their Royal Wedding commemorative ale - Hoppy NuptiAle. It will be a limited edition run, with only 300 numbered bottles being produced, thus creating a real collectors’ item!
Hoppy NuptiAle is a deep golden brew at 5.2%. Four different malts were used in the recipe to give the beer a slight roast malt flavour and its deep golden colour. The star of the beer, though, is the single hop variety used, the New Zealand hop Motueka. Generous additions of this hop throughout the boil give the beer a delightful hop bouquet and an alluring hop flavour and lasting bitterness.
The bottle labels have been exclusively designed for the Verulam Brewery by Ray Waters.
The use of a New Zealand hop variety was inspired by the visit of Prince William to New Zealand to meet those involved in the Christchurch earthquake and Pike River mine disaster. To this end, for every bottle of Hoppy NuptiAle sold, a donation will be made to the Royal Wedding Charity Fund which includes in the charities it supports the New Zealand Government’s Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.
The beer will be sold exclusively from the Farmer’s Boy, St Albans, where it was brewed. The bottles will be retailing for £5 each, with 50% of the retail price going to the Royal Wedding Charity Fund.

The Farmer's Boy First Beer Festival!
On 15/16 October 2011 we held our first Beer Festival! We had 22 different ales and 8 different ciders. To compliment this extravagance we had our fabulous barbeque and live music all weekend. We're definitely looking forward to doing it all again next year!
